Blog post written by PPT Trainer and Director Sean O’Shea.
As some of you may have seen on our Facebook page, we experienced what felt like Christmas morning all over again at PPT this week. We received our latest order of speciality barbells, cable attachments, and benches from Watson Gym Equipment in the UK. These guys make what we feel is the best quality speciality training equipment any trainer or trainee could ask for. Extremely durable, and designed to get you (and our clients) results!
Like any excited child on Christmas morning, we couldn’t wait to open our presents and get into a workout! With all the available options, it was an easy decision to go with an arms session (my personal favourite), but with 27 barbells and 34 cable attachments available to us, the hardest decision was what bars and attachments to use!
Here’s a description and video of the arm workout I completed. For this workout I utilised a post-exhaustion superset, where the aim is to pair larger compound movements, with an isolated movement to exhaust the target muscle group further. For this session I worked within the 5-7RM for all movements with the intention to focus on ‘Mechanical Damage’ (one of the primary mechanisms of hypertrophy), to target the fast twitch, or Type IIX muscle fibres.
A1. Narrow Grip Supinated Chin Ups
5 x 5-7R @ 40X0 tempo, rest 10sec
Note: apologies for the filming on this, quite difficult to film and chin at the same time! Promise I was chest to bar!
A2. Seated Kettlebell Curls
5 x 5-7R @ 40X0 tempo, rest 150sec
B1. Elbows Out Floor Press with Bands
5 x 5-7R @ 40X0 tempo, rest 10sec
B2. Decline Triceps Extension with Dr Tom’s Combo Bar
5 x 5-7R @ 40X0 tempo, rest 150sec
Can’t wait to get stuck into these movements on a more frequent basis. This was only a couple of the barbells we’ve purchased. Keep your eyes on our Facebook page for more frequent clips of our trainers and clients using the others.
For anyone looking to add variation to their training like nothing nothing else, head to the Watson Gym Equipment website for these, and much more training equipment.
