WHY I TOOK ACTION & JOINED PPT
I’ve spent the first half of my life being inactive, the second half thinking about what I could do to change that (lots of thinking but no doing).
I bumped into Mary one night while out at dinner locally, and was in awe at how strong and fit she looked. Seeing Mary inspired me to pull my finger out and apply myself to something that required physical effort.
Our conversation put my mind at ease that I was not joining a gym that was intimidating or where I would feel uncomfortable as a newbie.
WORKING WITH PPT TRAINERS
Daniel monitors my activity and macros weekly, and has no hesitation questioning me if my numbers blow out. His approach is not to interrogate, but understand the underlying issues causing the blowout or shortfall, and is always offering alternatives to help overcome any obstacles standing in the way of me hitting my personal targets. It’s reassuring knowing that someone is monitoring my activity and supporting me in my endeavors. I certainly don’t feel alone on this journey.
As far as my sessions go, I have a trainer that not only supervises me, but engages with me – pushes me when I doubt myself, tweaks exercises to suit my skill level and physical ability, and acknowledges my achievements and wins. There is a huge emphasis on technique – not just getting a set out for the sake of it, but doing it correctly to reduce risk of injury and to maximize results.
THE BENEFITS OF PT
I feel stronger from week to week and less fatigued.
I’m more confident and comfortable in what I wear.
I know I’m doing my body a huge favour by looking after it – I believe that moving my body and fueling it with nutritious food in the right quantities will help it function longer with less chance of disease and ailments.
I’m often asked by friends and family if I “enjoy” my workouts. I don’t enjoy working out just like I don’t enjoy brushing my teeth, but have come to realise that as far as my body is concerned, I need to move it and look after it to keep it healthy and to reduce the likelihood of problems down the track.
Each session is challenging and hard , and living healthy daily requires discipline and effort, but the benefits far outweigh any negative feelings (tiredness, laziness, “this is too hard”) I may feel on any given day.
I’ve accepted that there is no magic key to looking and feeling my personal best, and that in order to continue reaping the benefits of training, I need to embrace training as a life-long habit.
ABOUT THE PPT TEAM
I’ve had the pleasure of training one-on-one with Sarah, Bandoll, Jason, Jen and more recently (and for the longest period of time) with Daniel. Each trainer brings their own unique style to the sessions, but what they all share is a passion for what it is they do and a genuine interest in the well-being and progress of their clients. There are no big egos, no-one on power trips, just dedicated professionals leading by example and helping others kick their goals in a non-threatening and welcoming environment.
My life has turned for the better since joining PPT. I have no hesitation recommending Sean and his team to anyone thinking about embracing fitness.
