Straight up, lets establish one thing!
This is not another blog about how to survive the holiday season. We don’t need to survive it!
Life is precious and Christmas and New Year are special times, go out there and enjoy it! Get amongst your family and friends, celebrate the year that was and herald in 2016!!
Although you do need to be realistic. You might look, feel and train a little differently. Training sessions might be a little flat with your weights down, clothes could get a little snug, and energy levels at a bit of a low. The effects of overindulgence of alcohol and food, lack of sleep, and possibly reduced training sessions will be evident. It’s not a coincidence that these changes have happened, our bodies are pretty sensitive to all these environmental influences and you change one of them everything takes a dive.
What about for the person who is not already taking measures to look after their health? If the active individual is getting hit with all this, what about John/Jane Average who don’t exercise and are inactive?
Well, same goes for them, only its compounding on top of a foundation of health that wasn’t so solid to start with. It is well researched and documented that the risk for illness in those who lead a non healthy lifestyle is already relatively higher than those that sit on the other side of the fence. Its also proven through research that these risk factors can be significantly reduced through lifestyle changes.
The good news in all of this is that whether or not you are someone who hits the pause button through Christmas, or the person who has let it all go and needs to take the reigns and get back in control of their health, you can always take a step in the right direction to improve.
New Year is synonymous with new starts, so take one. Make that commitment to yourself to be better than you were yesterday, get healthy, make a lifestyle change and ultimately do yourself a massive favour. If you really want to get ahead, its proven that results are better when training with a PT, so let us get in there and support you so that you can become a better version of yourself for 2016.
