I am fortunate enough to work in a fitness center which seems to have l
#1 – WHEN YOUR DONE WITH IT, PUT IT BACK!
For some reason, in gyms all over the world, there are people that feel cleaning up after themselves in the gym is not necessary. I’d imagine these guys would have had a similar problem when they were kids when it came to their toys as well.
#2 – THE DUMBBELLS ARE LABELLED WITH NUMBERS FOR A REASON!
This will kind of tie in with the point above. It REALLY grinds my gears when I go up to the dumbbell rack to either put back or take some dumbbells, only to find that the they’re mixed up and out of order. For those of you that might have a problem with counting, here’s a quick guide that you can copy onto your arm that will help you out next time your re-racking your dumbbells and barbells:
10kg, 12.5kg, 15kg. 17.5kg. 20kg, 22.5kg, 25kg, ect ect
#3 – IF YOU CAN’T PUT IT DOWN, DON’T BOTHER PICKING IT UP!
No matter where you train, you’ll always come across those guys who finish every set by dropping their weights, just so they hear that loud “BANG” as the weights come crashing to the floor. News flash: dropping the weights to finish your set, only to draw attention to yourself does not make you awesome…. Just a tool. And for those who say they need to drop the weights because they have trained to fatigue and can’t control it anymore are just kidding themselves. You are around 40% stronger on the eccentric (lengthening) phase of your lift, so you should always be able to control that weight back down.
#4 “IT’S ALL YOU BRO!”
Most people should have seen this one before. You know those guys spot each other on the bench press, one lifting more than he probably should, and the other pretty much upright rowing the weight through the reps for them? A spotter is only there to HELP you lift the weight through a couple of reps at the END of your set. Their HELP should not start at the 2nd rep.
#5 MOP UP YOUR OWN SWEAT
Everyone in the gyms should be carrying a towel around the place. Lets keep this one simple, if you sweat on something, mop it up. No one wants to roll around in it when your done.
#6 SHARING IS CARING
For those of use who work/train in a fitness center, we know how busy it can get at times. If your ever asked “Can I jump in?” Don’t be an ass.
